Our Music Groups

The Sanctuary Choir

Our Director of Music Dr. David Neiweem leads a group of adult singers from the congregation. The singers are of all ages and of differing levels of experience. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30-p p.m. in the Chapel. The choir sings music from many eras and traditions on most Sundays at the 10:00 service. For a biography of Dr. Neiweem on the University of Vermont site press here.

The Cherubs

The name says it all. The littlest congregants in our midst are the members of the church school. The children in grades K-3 will learn to sing songs of faith and spirit throughout the year. On special occasions they will join us in worship to present in song what they have learned. Mrs. Laura Elder-Connors leads the group Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in learning new psalms, prayers and hymns. The Cherubs have a great opportunity to learn how a worship service is put together, and how Christians have expressed themselves in liturgy for centuries.

The Choragic Youth Choir

This youth choir carries the name of the Choragic Monument that was the inspiration for the shape or our unique bell tower here at First Church. The singers are from grades 4-8, and meet every Sunday morning from 9-10 a.m.. These singers learn some of the greatest vocal music written for young voices, and will inspire us in worship on a regular basis Ms. Vickie Drew leads the group.

The Austin Chimers

Experienced ringers in the handbell choir enhance worship by playing monthly, under the direction of Mrs. Sylvia Stebbins. Rehearsals are at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. The Ambassadors (a.k.a. "Bell Quintet") are a smaller group of the most experienced players that performs often at church functions and elsewhere in the community.
